Final: Doggy

Ziggy is a small Burnese Mountain Dog that wags his tail when pet on the head.
If his bowl is set in front of him, his eyes will also glow from excitement; with his bone in this place however, he is far too distracted to do much of anything, however he will still wag his tail in appreciation of being pet. Ziggy also loves to watch TV, but being a dog with no opposable thumbs, he can never get the channels to quite the right setting. That’s OK though, Ziggy loves the watch the screen change colours.

Pattern Maker

This application simplifies the process of making patterns. Before starting, the user can choose between eight types of symmetry – eight way, four way, horizontal, vertical, etc – and no symmetry, for their pattern. Whatever is then drawn when the pattern maker is run will be reflected in whichever type of symmetry has been chosen on the homepage. The user can also choose between a grid and a brick-style layout for when their drawing becomes a pattern.
Once on the pattern making page, there is a magnifying glass that repeats the drawing as a pattern when clicked. The brush size and colour can be changed at any time, and the five previous brush colours as well as the background colour will be saved to a little palette under the main colour so they can be found again if necessary. In addition, there is a small preview box beneath that so one may see their drawing as a pattern while the draw. This way the user can more easily decide when their pattern is ready to be repeated and saved.
These features make creating a pattern easier because the user does not have to go through the tedious process of copying and rotating parts, or arranging them perfectly into a grid.

Week 1 Homework

Tool: http://colorschemedesigner.com/ – Website that uses the colour wheel to help generate colour palettes.

Reference: http://csillustrated.berkeley.edu/  – Maybe not so relevant to Processing, but still cute and clear.

Project: http://www.banditracer.eu/carexample/ – Park a car. I like that you can see the shapes everything is built out of.

Maker: http://www.momentfactory.com/en – A Montreal based company that works in the field of interaction design for big shows (last year’s Super Bowl, Bon Jovi’s tour) and smaller more helpful things (work for Montreal’s history museum).

Forum: http://code.google.com/p/processing/issues/list  – Google’s handy forum/wiki for Processing.

Inspiration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choose_Your_Own_Adventure – It would be an illustrated digital choose your own adventure.
